"The Drum is Sacred. Its round form represents the whole universe, and it's steady beat is the pulse, the heart, throbbing at the center of the universe. It is the voice of Wakan Tanka (the Creator), and this sound stirs us and helps us to understand the mystery and power of all things."
Nick Black Elk, Sioux Visionary.
Cost: $425 pp (all materials supplied) includes GST.
Drum making and ceremony will commence at 10am Saturday and will be complete by 4pm Sunday. You will make a 16 inch hand held Native American Style drum and beater, with the option of mounting a crystal in the centre back to enhance the healing vibration.
After prayers of thanks and acknowledgement to the tree people and the deer (who have given so you may have drum), you will select and cut your drum skin from deer rawhide. Your drum skin will be soaked overnight in the flowing waters of our creek and bask in the moonlight.
You are invited to attend the dedicated 'teach an alais' (Sweathouse), with the lovingly sanded hoops on the alter.
On Sunday you will assemble your drum, and make your beater. Styles of drumming and healing with drum will be demonstrated.
Please bring: Sleeping bag or doona, pillow, 2 old towels, gear for sweathouse (sarong), torch, personal gear.
Breakfast for yourself and food to share for other meals.
